Dennis Oliech vs Cape Verde & Guinea

Harambee Stars last appearance in the AFCON games can hardly be separated with the finesse of Kenyan all-time top scorer Dennis Oliech. It was Oliech’s powerful rocket that floored Cape Verde at the Nyayo National Stadium on July 5, 2003, in the sixth and final qualifier that kept Kenya above Togo in the Group.

Oliech stylish snap-shot was so that even camera to adequately capture. And just like that Stars broke their long-standing AFCON jinx.

More of Nyayo's and Dennis Oliech sweet memories came in another of the striker's golazo against Guinea. A must win the match for Kenyan pit Stars against Guinea. After a goalless first half, Mike Baraza grabbed Kenyan lead after a fine searching move from Stars. Oliech popped up late to cap the occasion from a corner kick.

The striker seemed to have something down his sleeves when he drifted outside the box as Jamal Mohammed raced down to take what was the last chance of the game 93rd-minute corner.

What ensued was a clearance as far as the striker who brought the ball to his bidding with his left foot, then, a right foot shot that ended up in the top corner of Guinea's goal.

Never leave a football match before it ends, frustrated fans who had already started streaming out of the stadium got the reminder in this.

Norton Loiusa, the Guinea coach would be among those to salute the strike which he termed as 'great'

McDonald Mariga vs Guinea

A Manucho Goncalves  20th minute goal set an unwanted start for Kenya against Angola in Nyayo stadium and put Kenyans, who were yet to score a goal and lagging bottom in their group, at an awkward position.

Coincidentally, Victor Wanyama and Jamal Mohammed could only make coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno bench then and it took their introduction to turn the clash on its head.

Jamal sparked the comeback by poking home after Oliech had forced Guinea keeper to a save.

Late in the game, came the moment, came the man in Mariga. A rocket that whistled past the keeper Luis Jiao and into the net. A moment to savour as Mariga wheeled away his shirt in his hand. Thanks to his overzealous celebration the midfielder collected a caution that ruled him out of the return tie.

Johanna Omolo vs Comoros (AFCON qualifier)

Back at club level, Johanna had perfected an art of hitting screamers and waiting on when the same would be replicated on an international level.

His moment came in an AFCON qualifier clash against Comoros

34th-minute thunderbolt past Comoros goalkeeper Mroivili Mahmoud's despairing dive did it. Just as Otieno's goal the keeper stood no chance.
