Ahead of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Nyanza finals in Gusii Stadium, Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has hailed the region as the mother of talents in the country.

He hopes the Safaricom led initiative will help nurture talents from the grassroots and finally be drafted into the national team.  In the boys' category, Awendo Academy and Nyamira Super Eagles will clash in the first semi-finals before paving the way for a late kick off for Ombek Red Devils clash against Manyatta.

The girls' semis will pit Omebera Girls against Plateau Queens at 8:30 before Ekenyero and Ugari Starlets later encounter. The winners from both categories will fight for the national slot on Sunday.

All round

- We have already been to Narok and Embu for the Rift Valley and Eastern finals and it has been an eye-opening journey for us. Not only are we seeing the top-notch talent on display but football fans are also coming out in huge numbers to support their teams, Mwendwa said.

- Nyanza is one of the regions with incredible football talent so we expect to see some amazing action on the ground as we continue to scout for skilled players to draft into the national team, the president said.
