Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein has rewarded the national team for the successful campaign in the concluded CECAFA Senior Challenge tournament in Kenya.

The Zanzibar heroes, who were defeated by Harambee Stars in the post-match penalties will receive a plot to build their houses in addition to some cash rewards. The finalists twice came from behind to force a full-time 2-2 draw against the hosts.

- I congratulate all players and the managers and will reward each of them $ 1, 350. Furthermore, I will give them plots to build their houses, Shein said while rewarding the Heroes.

It is the second time the Islanders reach finals since 1995 when they eliminated all-time record holders Uganda. The Heroes recorded big wins against their brothers Kilimanjaro Stars and Rwanda but failed to beat the guest nation Libya.
