Newly promoted Kenyan Premier League side, Vihiga United has offered all its playing unit better terms after promotion to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), Chairman Kahi Indimuli has told Futaa.com.
The move has aimed a warding off interest from other clubs. A number of United players have been on other KPL clubs' radar for the last couple of weeks with Bernard Ochieng, Patrick Okullo and Christopher Masinza top in the list. Indimuli believes bettering the player's monthly package will help the club retain its best players.
-We thought it's important to upgrade their contracts now that we are in the Kenyan Premier League. A lot of clubs are interested in signing some of our key players and as such, we decided to offer them improved deals. We cannot match what top clubs pay at the moment but with time when we get more resources then we will be in a position to pay our players well because they are doing a good job, Indimuli told Futaa.com.
Vihiga topped the National Super League (NSL) in 2017 earning promotion to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
