Mourinho set to sign Spurs defender

Jose Mourinho has urged Manchester United chiefs to launch a £50 million bid for Tottenham and England defender Danny Rose, according to reports.

The 27-year-old  has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer and Mourinho is ready to revive his interest this month. The left-back has become a key player for Spurs since signing from Leeds United in 2007, playing over 150 games for the club, but his future remains unclear.

Rose suffered an injury setback in Tottenham’s Boxing Day victory over Southampton, with a minor knee injury expected to keep him sidelined for another three weeks. But Rose and United are not believed to be overly concerned and The Sun says Mourinho is attempting to persuade the club to launch a £50m offer for his services.

Tottenham is reluctant to sell Rose to the Red Devils but their stance may change if they can seal a move for Fulham’s teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon. United have also been linked with Sessegnon but Mourinho views the more experienced Rose as a far better option.
