Arsenal is reportedly ready to let wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez leave if they can acquire Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez as a replacement.
Popular English news outlet The Mirror has claimed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is open to allowing Sanchez join league leaders Manchester City in the ongoing transfer window but that the tactician wants to make another ‘high profile’ signing before the Chilean is offloaded.
Mahrez has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates since last summer and continues to garner the interest of top-tier teams on account of his stellar form, which has seen the Algerian score seven goals and register just as many assists in 21 Premier League starts, with four of those goals and three of those assists coming in the playmaker’s last eight appearances.
Leicester chief Claude Puel has insisted that the 26-year-old must wait until the end of the season to leave but the club’s top brass are likely to sign off on a move if potential suitors offer around £40m for the linchpin, who admittedly wants to leave the King Power Stadium in search for a new challenge.
