According to reports, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is set to make two huge sacrifices in order to land Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez this month.
It is reportedly the Special One will drop his interest in two long-term United targets if he manages to sign the Chile international. The 29-year-old appears destined to leave the north London club in January having entered the final six months of his current contract. Sanchez came close to joining Manchester City in the summer but remained in north London with the Gunners unable to tempt Thomas Lemar into leaving Monaco. City has revived their interest despite holding a huge 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League but are unwilling to meet Arsenal’s £35 million valuation which has allowed their local rivals the chance to swoop in at the last minute.
Mourinho had identified Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann as his two box office summer transfer targets but will abandon any thought of signing two players who have been on United’s radar for a number of years, should he complete an audacious move for the former Barcelona star. United are willing to offer Sanchez a staggering £350,000-a-week to move to Old Trafford, a salary that would make him the best-paid player in England and are said to be increasingly confident of securing his services.
