Aubameyang's debut hanging in the balance

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could miss the chance to make his Arsenal debut this weekend.

The club’s record signing could fail to make his much awaited first appearance against Everton on Saturday after suffering from illness. The forward joined the Gunners in the deadline day for £56m after weeks of chasing his signature following Alexis Sanchez's departure. During Friday’s press conference, Wenger said that the new arrival was suffering from “sickness and fever” and had been unable to play a full role in training.

Assessment

“Jack Wilshere was sick and we will assess him today, hope he will be capable of being in the squad. Aubameyang was sick as well so we assess him. I have to see how well and how fit he [Aubameyang] can be," said Wenger.

Auba will be assessed on Friday to see whether he will be involved on Saturday when the Gunners host Everton.  Arsenal will miss the services of Danny Welbeck who is yet to recover from injury.
