Masud Juma and Allan Kateregga continued their stay on the sidelines as Cape Town City defeated Bidvest Wits 1-0 on Wednesday night in  South Africa's Nedbank Cup tie.

Fellow new singing Matthew Rusike opened his City stint in style, scoring just two minutes on his debut from a Teko Modise delivery.

Wits struggles

The victory, City's fourth of the season over struggling Wits, had Benni McCarthy team advance to the round 16 of the competition.

The former KPL pair is yet to make their respective debut for the title-chasing outfit.
