Mathare United  scored two late goals to  overcome a ten-man Nzoia Sugar 2-1 in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday 11th in Machakos.

George Mutimba scored the opener for Nzoia Nzoia in the 31st minute before Chrispinus Oduor and Francis Omondi late goals ensured Mathare picked maximum points. Nzoia finished the game a man down after Festus Okiring was sent off for handling the ball in the area.

Nzoia had a glorious chance to take the lead in the 7th minute through George Mutimba but George Owino did well to block the forward's shot from the edge of the area following a David Owino misspass.

Oduor denied

A minute later, Crispin Oduor found the back of the net after tapping home from a Cliff Nyakeya cross but the goal was chucked off by the offside flag.

Nzoia went all out in search of the opener and should have gone ahead in the 10th minute when Elvis Rupia found himself unmarked in the area but with only Mboya to beat, the forward shot over the bar.

Samwel Olwande blew Mathare's best chance in the 16th minute shooting wide from inside the penalty area.

Mutimba goal

The Millers' wave of attacks finally paid off in the 36th minute when George Mutimba gave them the lead connecting to an Elvis Rupia cross cum shot.

Nzoia continued dominating proceedings with Mutimba, Rupia and Luke Namanda causing Mathare all sorts of problems. They however couldnt find a second goal in the first stanza.

Bernard Mwalala's side continued to dominate proceedings after the interval in search of more goals. Mwalala showed his intent to get more goals when he hauled off Edger Nzano and Elvis Rupia for Patrick Kwitonda and Morven Otinya immediately after the restart.

Edward Seda had a great chance to draw his side level in the 66th minute but he hit the side net from inside penalty area. A minute later Clifford Alwanga's shot went across Nzoia goal with no forward in the area to finish.

Mathare goals

Mathare finally got their equalizer in the 78th minute when Crispinus Oduor rose high to head  home a Daniel Mwaura cross from the right flank.

Mathare completed the come back six minutes later when Festus Okiring handled a goal bound shot. The defender was sent off and a penalty awarded which Omondi converted to earn his side all the three points.
