Kenya international striker Michael Olunga was given a start for Girona in their La Liga match week 23 against Sevilla. They lost 0-1.

Girona will blame themselves for not getting even a point after they were awarded a penalty which was conceded by Franco Vasquez. Alex Granell hit the cross bar in the first minute of added time to keep the score in favour of Sevilla. Luis Muriel scored the all important goal in the 69th minute when the striker placed the ball at the bottom left corner after being assisted by Vasquez. Girona goalkeeper Bounou could do little to stop the ball.

The visitors finest chance was blocked by Johan Mojica when Peres Pons right footed shot seemed to be heading into the net in the 74th minute. Aleix Garcia is also to blame for not securing  an equalizer when his direct free kick went just wide from the top corner. The free kick was won from a very promising position just outside the box.

The loss leaves Girona 9th while Sevilla is 6th with thirty one and thirty six points respectively. Olunga and team mates will face Leganese while Las Palmas will host Sevilla in the next match day week on February 17th.
