Ulinzi Stars defender Brian Birgen is yet to feature for the military side in the new season. However, this is likely to change soon.

The defender suffered a knee sprain in pre-season. Birgen was expected to make the team in the trip to Sony Sugar but head coach Dunstan Nyaundo opted for caution, letting him recover fully before resuming action.

The coach is not taking any chances with the defender’s recovery but stated that he will be observed with view of getting him ready for the Mathare game.

Good progress

“According to the medical report, he still has some pain, because he had a knee injury and these are treated with really a lot of care, lest you damage it. He is however responding well and maybe he will be ready for Mathare United,” the coach added.

The soldiers were beaten by Sony Sugar in their last KPL fixture but hope to get back to winning ways when they face the Slum Boys on Saturday 17th February at Afraha Stadium.
