Vincent Kompany has dared Manchester City to retain their Premiere League title next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports following their title-clinching 3-1 victory over Tottenham, the centre-back said, "You can't take it (PL title) for granted. Before you know it, it's gone. I've been lucky to win three but I've missed some as well. Today I'm happy. I suppose my team-mates will probably roll their eyes a bit but now I want to see the reaction."

The Belgian continued, "I've never been able to retain a title and I want to see if this team can be even more successful. I've never been able to retain a title and I want to see if this team can be even more successful. At my age I can still learn and I enjoy every minute of it, but I think we share one thing of having the hunger and desire to never be satisfied."

"I may be the first one thinking about next season. I want to stay humble. It's not a dynasty, it's one title. It's brilliant, but I want to unlock the full potential."

Third time's the charm?

City have bagged the coveted Premier League trophy on another two seperate occassions (2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons) but failed to defend their titles - an outcome that Kompany hopes to change.

The English side are on course to end their dream season on a high with a double, having already clinched the EFL Cup with a victory over Arsenal in February.
