AFC Leopards SC Head Coach Rodolfo Zapata has responded to a Twitter jibe directed to him by Gor Mahia Head Coach Dylan Kerr.

Zapata had been quoted by a local football portal saying AFC Leopards would dominate the Kenyan Premier League soon and Kerr retweeted the article with the comment “the best laughter I’ve had in a long time hahahaha …” and adding the comment “… had to laugh, it’s like saying Sheffield United will win the Premier League.”

The Argentine coach opines that Ingwe has a rich history, has improved greatly and tips them to conquer the local scene soon.

“I respect Gor Mahia and coach Dylan Kerr, but AFC Leopards has a big history and we must to respect it. All teams win, draw or lose (including Barcelona and the Brazilian national team). The ball rotates like the hand clock and so the time will come,” Zapata tells Futaa.

“Through hard work, discipline, relentless drills and an inspired tactical game, AFC Leopards has thrived in the league so far since I took over. We have improved in all aspects in general. Our defense is conceding fewer goals because our teamwork has worked.  AFC Leopards never gives up.  We fight throughout the game.” He added.

The two teams will meet on Sunday 22nd July at the Kasarani Stadium and Zapata says they will approach the match with the same mentality they do against any other team in the KPL.

“It's a derby, and our fans obviously want us to win it.  I also want to win every single game so for me it is a regular game.  It's going to be difficult like any other match in the KPL but before that we face Bandari FC and that’s where our focus is at the moment.” He concluded.

Zapata joined AFC Leopards from Gaborone United in Botswana.
