Camp Toyoyo double header to kickoff match day 22

The National Super League (NSL) will roll in once again for round 22 with a double header at the Camp Toyoyo grounds on Friday 13 July kicking off the action that will extend until Sunday 15.

In the day’s early fixture, Nairobi City Stars will play host to Modern Coast Rangers starting 2pm looking to inch closer to the playoff slots and issue some sort of psychological statement to the teams around them.

Currently in eighth place with 32 points, John Amboko’s charges can move up to fifth with 35 points if they can manage a win against a team only a point and place beneath them on the standings.

Rangers managed to take all three points against their Friday opponents in the first meeting courtesy of a 2-1 win in early March, the win though was the Mombasa based side’s first over City Stars in two years.

Stima to go top

Since suffering relegation from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) back in 2016, the Kawangware based side has taken four points off Rangers in the three games they have played against each other with the 3-0 win in 2017 being the highlight.

The other game of the day will see third place Western Stima look go back to the summit since being dislodged by Ushuru at the start of the second leg. Richard Makumbi’s charges will be away to Kangemi Allstars starting 4pm.

Stima in third place with 40 points, can move top of the log for at least 24 hours if they can seal a win against the league debutants who have held their own and sit in 13th place with 28 points after claiming eight wins and four draws in the 21 matches they have played so far.

Four matches will be played on Saturday before the round concludes on Sunday with three more games.
