Villa legend: Club must do things right, welcome historical leaders
Former SC Villa and Uganda Cranes midfielder, Paul Mukatabala, has urged the club to follow the right path as they seek to address the current situation that is threatening to swallow the club.
Villa has been in the news of recent for all the wrong reasons ranging from FUFA forcing the club to postpone presidential polls due to unclear constitution provisions, Misagga’s departure, StarTimes pulling the sponsorship plug and rival groups threatening chaos.
Mukatabala, who was forced out of the club technical team in the run down to last season, believes that the only way to solve the current impasse is by following the right channels and laying structures.
“Patience is urged,” he says and questions, “what's the hurry from some?? Our club should get things done right, or we risk going back to square one again.”
He has also advised the Villa faithfuls to welcome former managers who oversaw the most successful periods in the club’s history.
“I played under most of these gentlemen at SC Villa during some of the most successful periods for the club. And I used to see how they managed the club. Some have, unfortunately, departed this world but some are still around.
“For those who are still around like former club Chairman, Franco Mugabe, Hajj Omar Mandela and others, are willing to get more involved in the club, this can only be good news. Fans should welcome this. Listen to their words of wisdom.
Mukatabala has also lauded the involvement of FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo, an ardent Villa fan, in trying to restore sanity at the club.
“The involvement of FUFA President, Moses Magogo, in seeing that our club is properly restructured is great. He knows and understands Management and club football structures.”
