Arsenal youngster signs new long-term contract
Arsenal wonder kid Emile Smith Rowe only turned 18 last Saturday but today he's signed a new long-term contract with The Gunners.
The teenager has been rewarded with a new deal despite only putting pen to paper on his first set of professional terms a year ago. Smith Rowe has enjoyed a highly productive and impressive pre-season with Arsenal on their tour to Singapore, making his debut against Boreham Wood and then netting a lovely solo goal against Atlético Madrid a couple of days before his 18th birthday.
For Arsenal fans who have yet to get a look at the youngster in action, Smith Rowe was deployed as a holding midfielder alongside 19-year-old new signing Matteo Guendouzi against Atlético Madrid. The more experienced Aaron Ramsey played just ahead of the teenage duo, but Smith Rowe showcased his box-to-box ability throughout the match as well as his fine dribbling skills that led to his goal.
Arsenal has confirmed the news which caps an excellent few days for the talented Englishman:
Smith Rowe will be a part of Arsenal's first team squad this season. He joined thre club aged 10 and was educated at Hale End, two miles from Tottenham. Smith Rowe was part of the England squad that won the FIFA Under-17 World Cup last year in India.
