Arsenal plot ambitious deadline day swoop for Ousmane Dembele

According to the Guardian and numerous sources on Twitter emanating from Spain, Arsenal still holds out hope of signing Ousmane Dembélé from Barcelona on deadline day.

The French winger has apparently become unsure of his role in the Barcelona squad after the signing of Brazilian Malcom, who seems to have dropped the World Cup winner down in the pecking order.

A loan move is being discussed, but Ousmane Dembélé himself will have to decide whether he prefers a switch to London or to stay in Barcelona and fight for his place. The reports in Spain suggest an initial £10m loan fee and then a £90m transfer fee to make the deal permanent in May.

It seems to all depend on Dembélé. Will Arsenal pull off an audacious swoop for the 21-year-old World Cup winner? just over 2 hours until the transfer window slams shut...
