Mwalala terms Tusker favorites ahead of Ruaraka showdown
Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala believes Tusker FC are favorites heading into the weekend's showdown between the two teams.
The in – form Brewers will entertain a Bandari side that's equally on a fine run at Ruaraka grounds with both teams keen on getting maximum points.
Speaking ahead of the match, Mwalala said his side has prepared well for the game but handed Tusker the favorites’ tag heading into Sunday 12th August showdown.
"Our preparations for the game have been good. The spirit in the team is high especially after our recent wins and we are looking forward to the game against Tusker. I think Tusker are favorites going into the game, their recent form has been good, they will be playing at home and that gives them an edge. That said, we will go there and fight to get a good result although I know that it will not be easy," he said.
The team has been boosted by the return of forwards William Wadri and Abdallah Hassan, the duo missed Tuesday 7th August 2-1 win over Gor Mahia. Hassan was suspended for the game while Wadri was injured. Midfielders David King'atua and Michael Luvutsi remain sidelined.
"Hassan will be back after his suspension, Wadri is also available after recovering from a knock. Luvutsi and King'atua are still not available but I have full trust in the available players," he added.
The team will however be without suspended first choice left back Fred Nkata.
On title push, Mwalala believes a Gor Mahia win over Posta Rangers on Friday 10th August in Kisumu will all but seal the title race fate.
"Mathematically I think Sofapaka, Ulinzi Stars, AFC Leopards and us have a chance to close in on Gor Mahia. But realistically it's not going to be easy. I think if they beat Posta on Friday it will be done and dusted," he concluded.
