Ulinzi warms up for Sony with big win

10 Aug 2018, 06:20

Ahead of their game against Sony Sugar in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) on Sunday 12th August, Ulinzi Stars hit fourth tier side Geothermal Development Company 6 – 0 in a friendly match played at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Thursday 9th August.

It was a fine outing for the Soldiers, who netted their goals through Elvis Nandwa (a brace), Oscar Wamalwa, Mohamed Hassan, Omar Boraafya and Elijah Mwanzia.

Build confidence

The team has not scored in the last two matches in the Kenyan Premier League, and the coach, Dunstan Nyaudo hopes that the free scoring show in the low league side helps build confidence in his forwards and the same is carried to the weekend game.

“It was a good game for us and though the opponents play in Division 2, they offered us some good practice. We have been missing a lot of chances in the past few matches so the aim here was to try and instill that confidence in the players.

“While we scored six goals, we still missed a number of chances and we will continue to work on that ahead of the Sunday game. In the meantime, we continue with normal training, as we look forward to a return to winning ways,” Nyaudo says on the club website.
