Basena happy with scrappy win over URA, promises better returns in future
Sports Club Villa Coach Moses Basena was happy with the team’s 1-0 win over URA in the FUFA Super 8 tournament on Thursday afternoon but was not impressed with the overall performance.
Basena has stressed that it will take time for him to compose a formidable team after a mass exodus of players hit the club.
“First of all, the display showed a team that is just starting,” Basena remarked after the game. “We struggled a lot at the end of first half and in the second. We also gave away free kicks in dangerous areas but those are things we’ll be working on in training.”
New recruit Abdulrahman Ajab scored the lone goal for the Jogoos that propelled them to the semi-finals.
Despite the poor show, Basena is hopeful that the players, most of who are from the lower leagues, will be ready to play at the top when the league kicks off next month.
“Am happy that I formed a team in a short period and are already showing signs of doing well. They will keep improving by the day.”
