This season's English Premier League's summer transfer window was shut down last evening albeit not much extravagant activity. The clubs spent a total of £1.24billion. While Tottenham Hotspur did not spend a single cent, newly-promoted side Fulham is up there with the high spenders.

Ahead of the 2018/2019 season kick-off,  we take a look at which teams spent the most money during the just concluded window.

LIVERPOOL - £177m

Jurgen Klopp's side was the King of the summer window as they spent the most money. Liverpool spent a total of £177m. They used £67m on Roma stopper Alisson, in addition to adding Naby Keita (£52.8m), Fabinho (£43.7m) and Xherdan Shaqiri (£13.5m) to their ranks.

CHELSEA - £128.6m

Chelsea comes second in the big-spenders list. With £128.6m spent, Chelsea bought Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa for £71.6m and then spent another £57m on Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

LEICESTER - £104.3m

Leicester also spent heavily on seven new players with a £104.3m outlay, topped by Championship prospect James Maddison (£24m) but also secured the services of former West Brom captain Jonny Evans for just £3.5m.

FULHAM

Newly-promoted Fulham became the first promoted team to spend over 100 million pounds in the summer transfer window. Preparing for its first Premier League campaign in four years, Fulham added five players on deadline day, including signing midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa from Marseille, goalkeeper Sergio Rico from Sevilla and forward Luciano Vietto on loan from Atletico Madrid.

American owner Shahid Khan has funded the recruitment of 12 players for the west London club.

Others

  • West Ham spent £99m
  • Everton splashed £88.5m
  • Everton splashed £88.5m
  • Manchester United £81.7m
