City Stars wary of wounded Black Stars
Nairobi City Stars will take on Kibera Black Stars on Sunday 12 August at Camp Toyoyo in round 26 of the National Super League (NSL) and head coach John Amboko is wary of his team’s opponents who are experiencing a dip in form.
Black Stars have not won a single match in seven outings, with their last win coming back in May on match day 18 when they defeated debutants Kisumu Allstars.
This poor run has seen Godfrey Oduor’s charges, who had placed themselves in the running for promotion with their first leg of the season performances, drop down the pecking order and now lie in 10th place with 33 points, 14 points adrift of the qualifying places.
Nothing to chance
City Stars on the other hand are enjoying an impressive run of form, having lost once in 14 matches to lie in sixth place with 41 points but Amboko is leaving nothing to chance as he believes Black Stars are capable of an upset.
He said, “They are wounded and are looking to get back on track. It is going to be a tricky game because they are no pushovers and are very much capable of a win so we need to be at the top of our game.
“My players are preparing according to plan and we know what is required of us as a team.”
In the first meeting between the two sides earlier in the season, City Stars claimed a 2-1 win at Camp Toyoyo.
