Aswani boost for Sofapaka
Despite their fading hopes of the 2018 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title, Sofapaka have vowed to keep on pushing and the coach, John Baraza will have a big boost his way with the return of goal poacher Kepha Aswani.
Aswani has been out with a knee injury and missed the loss to Tusker as well as the win over Ulinzi Stars in their last two matches but Baraza has confirmed that the striker is available for selection when the team faces Vihiga United at Narok Stadium.
“Aswani’s knee injury has been recurring and that is why we didn’t want to speed up his return to action. However, he is now good to go and we will consider his services against Vihiga on Sunday,” Baraza says on the club’s official website.
Fight for place
Upon his return, Aswani will be expected to fight for a starting place in a forward line that has Ugandan Umaru Kasumba and Pistone Mutamba, both who have been impressive in the recent matches.
Kasumba scored the winning goal the last time out as Sofapaka downed Ulinzi Stars 1 – 0.
With a game in hand over second placed Bandari, Sofapaka are third on the KPL log, with 43 points and will hope to beat relegation candidates Vihiga, to close in on Gor Mahia.
