KCCA humbles CECAFA champs in friendly
KCCA FC came from behind in fine style, to humiliate CECAFA champions Azam FC 4 – 2 in a friendly match staged at the Startimes Stadium Lugogo on Friday 10th August.
Aggrey Morris gave Azam the lead, with a goal from the penalty spot in the fourth minute after a foul in the box, committed by KCCA skipper Timothy Awany and Dan Lyanga handed the Tanzanians the second goal two minutes later.
That was just about all the visitors could manage, as in the 16th minute Muzamiru Mutyaba rose well to head home a cross from Muwadda Mawejje, sparking the comeback that saw skipper Awany redeem himself with a goal on the strike of half time as Muwadda grabbed another assist.
2 - 2 at the break
KCCA ensured the clash went to the break tied at 2 – 2 and just four minutes after resumption, new signing Allan Kyambadde continued with his fine start as he netted the third after some fine work again from Muwadda in the build up.
Patrick Kaddu slammed the door on Azam’s faces in the 69th minute with the final goal to see KCCA pick a morale boosting win.
The Ugandan giants now retreat to continue with preparations for the coming CAF Champions League match against Township Rollers, but first they have a Super 8 game against Namityobora to contend with on Tuesday.
