South African giants courting Gor Mahia defender

Gor Mahia's Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi has been linked with a move to South African side, Kaizer Chiefs.

The Amakhosi are reportedly looking for a backup for new boy Letlhogonolo Mirwa after parting ways with both Tsepo Masilela and Sibusiso Khumalo at the end of last season.

According to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs bosses have identified Walusimbi as the player capable of filling the left-back slot after his impressive run with the Kenyan Premier League leaders in the CAF Confederations Cup this year.

16 months left

Walusimbi has 16 months left in his contract with Gor Mahia and it will take a substantial amount of money to take away the fullback who is one of Gor's longest serving players having joined the team in 2014.

The speculation was further fuelled when the defender missed Gor's Friday 10th August Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match against Posta Rangers that was played in Kisumu.

Should he depart, Gor will turn to his understudy Wesley Onguso to fill the void for the remainder of the season.
