Shaw: Leicester goal my career best
Luke Shaw has described his goal against Leicester City as his career best.
The left-back slotted home the second and winning goal for Manchester United and Shaw believes that is the reward of the hard work during the preseason. The former Southampton full-back hopes the goal would herald a new era altogether after he seemed to have stalled last season.
"It was my first goal and that is all that was important, it doesn't matter how I scored. I was meant to come inside and I managed to get in front of him and put it in. It's the best feeling I have had in my career. I have worked really hard over the pre-season and I had a lot of time to reflect and work on what I needed to. I know I can be better and that is what I want to keep showing the manager." Shaw said after helping United win 2-1 on Friday night.
Foundation to grow
Shaw had to compete with Ashley Young for the left-back position and he is cautious to speak about the prospect of stamping his authority on the first team and dislodge his competitor and friend.
"I don't want to speak too soon after one game but I want to be up there with the best left-backs in the world. I have the foundations to do that here with the manager and my team-mates at Manchester United. I want to play for England and I want to be involved again." he admits.
"I don't think I was playing as well as I could with my attacking capabilities last season, and that's what I'm known for," Shaw concludes.
