Arsenal boss Unai Emery has challenged Mesut Ozil to "do more" as he is entering a new phase in his career.
The former Germany international will be 30 years old come next month and his retirement from national team has given him the opportunity to focus with his Arsenal career. There was speculation that the Arsenal boss had a bust-up with Ozil but Emery insisted that they have a good relationship.
"For me, it is a new moment. That's the same for Mesut. He is working well. I want to push the players. I look at him with the focus totally here. He is feeling like I am feeling: he can improve, he can do more," he said
Emery also highlighted the importance of Gunners' left-back Nacho Monreal as he wants the Spaniard to extend his stay with the north London club. "He is 32 years old but I think physically he is playing at a very good level," added the Arsenal manager. I think we need to find a new contract with him to stay with the Arsenal team."
Arsenal travels to St James' Park to take on Newcastle on Saturday 15th.
