Former Gor Mahia striker Meddie Kagere has bagged the Tanzanian Premier League (TPL) player of the month for the month of August while former AFC Leopards striker Alexis Kitenge netted a hat-trick as his side, Stand United lost 4-3 to Young Africans on Sunday 16th September.

Kagere has netted 100% of Simba’s goals this season after netting in the 1-0 win over Tanzania Prisons and a brace in the 2-0 win over Mbeya City. Simba earned a draw against Ndanda on Saturday 15th September. Kagere has also managed to carry his form to the Rwandan national team after scoring in the 1-2 loss Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Kitenge grabbed the first hat-trick of the TPL this season which started in the 15th minute as he equalized with a wonderful first-time volley inside the box. The Burundian got his brace at the stroke of the hour mark when he pounced on an error by the goalkeeper to bring Stand United back into the game as he made it 4-2. Kitenge got the third in the 92nd minute through a header but it was a little too late as Yanga held on for the win.
