Away point welcome, Mwendwa says
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa says the point picked in Ethiopia when the national team Harambee Stars faced off with the Waliya Antelopes, is good enough in the race for qualification to the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Kenya picked a point in a barren draw on Wednesday 10th October and speaking after the team returned from the game, Mwendwa said the point is welcome as he pointed out that it is not seasy playing away from home.
Sunday return leg
The team will go on with training ahead of the return leg match scheduled for Sunday 14th October at Kasarani.
Expectations are that the game will see a massive turnout after the Kenya government scrapped the gate charges to allow for free entry to push for a Harambee Stars win which would propel the team ever closer to qualification.
“It is not easy playing away from home, so a point for us is welcome.
“It is good that Government has granted fans free entry. We are now planning on how we will ensure that fans have the best experience on Sunday,” he said as the team returned from Ethiopia.
