Injury blow for Spurs as defender is ruled out until December
Tottenham has been handed a major injury blow as Jan Vertonghen is set to be on the sidelines until December.
The north London side confirmed the Belgian will be out until the end of the year with a hamstring injury. Vertonghen was injured in a Premier League encounter against Huddersfield last month.
"The Belgium international defender will now continue his recovery with a view to returning to full training by December, the club confirmed.
The 31-year-old will sit out Premier League matches against West Ham United, Manchester City, Wolves, Crystal Palace and Chelsea including Champions League double-header with PSV Eindhoven.
Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez last week said Vertonghen would miss the international breaks this month and in November due to the problem.
More injury concerns
Spurs have a host of injury concerns, with Danny Rose (groin) withdrawing from England duty this week. Christian Eriksen (abdomen), Mousa Dembele (thigh), Dele Alli (hamstring) and Serge Aurier (thigh) have also been absent of late.
