Quarterfinal jinx haunting UCU as KU, Bugema earn first leg advantage
For the fifth consecutive time, Uganda Christian University may fail to cruise past the quarterfinal of the University Football league after falling to a 3-0 loss at the hands of Kampala University on Thursday at Namboole stadium.
Brian Omirambe unlocked the game in the 39th minute and six minutes later, Richard Tumusiime doubled the lead just before the break.
Ivan Mayanja put the game beyond the Christians in the 80th minute to give Kampala a comfortable first leg lead.
In the other game played, a well-taken 86th minute free kick by Frank Mugomba earned Bugema University a slim 1-0 first leg advantage over Islamic University in Tororo.
The first legs conclude on Friday with Kyambogo University on the road to face Uganda Martyrs University in Nkozi.
