AFCON 2019 Q: Uganda Cranes coach upbeat ahead of Lesotho clash
Sebastian Desabre has failed to win a competitive game in four attempts since taking over the Uganda Cranes but believes he will pick one this weekend against Lesotho.
Uganda host Lesotho in a group L match day three fixture of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday at Namboole.
The match comes just a month after the team drew to an uninspiring goalless draw against Tanzania. However, the Frenchman believes he has prepared the team well enough for the assignment.
“The players understand the importance of the two games,” Desabre told the media in a pre-match press conference on Friday.
“The draw against Tanzania was not a bad result but now we want to do better and pick more points and qualify early. We have three targets now but the most important is to collect three points [on Saturday].
“We have tried to change the spirit of the team during the game and the tactical approach. We want to play good football but also win the games not just waiting for Onyango to keep us in the game. But I think the team is very ready to get a positive results. I am sure tomorrow we shall win the game.”
