Onyango: Uganda Cranes wants to qualify to AFCON by Tuesday

12 Oct 2018, 11:55

Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango has said that the players will work hard to see that the team qualifies for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday next week.

Uganda hosts Lesotho on Saturday in a match day three and then travel to face the same team in a reverse tie four days later in Maseru.

The Cranes are currently top of group L with four points from two games and can seal a spot if they collect at least four points from Lesotho.

“Everyone is in shape and ready for the two games,” Onyango assured. “The players want to do their best and see that we can qualify for AFCON by [the end of] Tuesday next week. We are focussed to pick a positive result on Saturday so that we can travel to Maseru with a big advantage and less pressure.”

Onyango was part of the Uganda Cranes team that ended the country’s 38-year jinx of qualifying to the continental finals.
