CAF Announces Categories for 2018 CAF Awards

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of awards that will be available to winners ahead of the January 2019 ceremony.

The federation explained that the potential winners will be assessed on their performances from February 2018 to November 2018.

Additionally, two new features have been confirmed where FIFPro [the worldwide representative organisation for 65,000 professional footballers] will select the Africa Finest XI while the Goal of the Year will be determined via public votes.

Other category awards will be decided with the following systems:

1. African Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year

  • CAF Technical & Development Committee, Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, Coaches and Captains of the 54 Member Associations.

2. Youth Player of the Year, Men’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Coach of the Year, Men’s National Team of the Year and Women’s National Team of the Year.

  • CAF Technical & Development Committee, Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

  • Men’s National Team of the Year

  • Ydnekatchew Tessema Trophy for the Federation President of the Year
    Platinum Award

The big event will take place on Tuesday, 8 January 2019 in Dakar, Senegal.
