Chelsea midfielder notes one area he must improve
Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has revealed that he needs to add a scoring touch to his game in order to recover his position from Ross Barkley in the team.
After starting the season on the bench Kovacic quickly established himself as a first team regular in the midfield comprised of him, Jorginho and N’golo Kante. Ross Barkley, however, picked up some form and is now preferred by manager Maurizio Sarri ahead of Kovacic. Barkley has now scored three league goals including the 96th-minute equalizer that rescued a point for Chelsea against Manchester United.
Kovacic admitted that he has to add goals into his game to get back to the team, “Of course, I want to improve. As I've said before, that's a part that's missing in my career so far. The goals, of course. And the assists. The goals, I'm missing them. I can and will improve for sure on this aspect of the game. But, in the end, I'm not watching so much myself. I'm occupied with my team, that the team performs at its best and I give the best.”
