Okwi bags October award in Tanzania

Uganda national team striker Emmanuel Okwi is the October Player of the Month in the Tanzanian Premier League, after beating two finalists to the award following an impressive run at his club, Simba.

The striker was declared winn er by the Tanzanian Football Federation after he brushed off competition from Yahya Zayd of Azam FC na Eliud Ambokile of Mbeya City, following recommendations from the pool of premier league coaches.

In the month, Simba played four matches, and Okwi was adjudged to have had a big contribution as the side bagged maximum points in all the matches, scoring seven goals, including a hat trick against Ruvu Shooting, which Simba won 5 – 0.

Okwi will be handed an Azam TV decoder and Tshs 1 million for his win.

Meanwhile, Azam FC head coach Hans van Pluijm was named the Coach of the Month for October beating Simba SC’s Patrick Aussems and Mbeya City head coach Ramadhan Nsazwarimo. 

The Azam coach guided the team to pick 15 points from five games in the month while the Simba tactician led his team to four wins in as many matches and the Mbeya City coach led the team to three wins and two draws, amassing 11 points in the month.
