Former Chipolopolo coach leads PSL side to Maiden Cup title

Former Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda on Saturday led his PSL side Baroka FC to their first ever Telkom Knockout title beating Orlando Pirates on post match penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Baroka took the lead in the 45th minutes through Jomondre Dickens. The buccaneers leveled matters twelve minutes into the second half through Musa Nyatama who got on the end of a Shonga free kick to make it 1-1.

The Sea Robbers were controlling play and creating a lot of chances but Augustine Mulenga, Justin Shonga and Vincent Pule all failed to capitalise on their chances to put Pirates in the lead.

Mduduzi Mdantsane earned Baroka a penalty after being brought down by Buccaneers goalkeeper Mpontshane. Mdatsane stepped and put the ball in the back of the net to put Baroka ahead.

Thembikosi Lorch levelled matters after getting on the end of a pinpoint cross from Shonga.

The match went to penalties were Baroka won 3-2 clinching their maiden cup title in the PSL era. Davies Nkausu missed his spot kick for Baroka while Lorch and Shonga missed for Pirates.
