The County Government of Meru is set to acquire National Super League (NSL) side Thika United according to a reliable source.
The team has been struggling financially since sponsors Brookside Dairy Ltd pulled out and was relegated from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) to the second-tier.
Due to the financial problems, the team failed to honour its first match of the 2018/19 season. Talks have been rife about a possible takeover of the team with different parties expressing interest, notably the bankrollers of third-tier side Mwatate United and The County Government of Meru.
