Mathare United youngster Andrew Juma is eager to do better in the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season.

Juma has been out of competitive action for the whole of last season and was on the mark for the team against Nzoia Sugar FC on Saturday 15th December, a feat that he says motivates him to do better.

“It feels great to be back after almost a year. That was the most challenging period in my football career but I never gave up. I kept working hard in training and my teammates also encouraged me a lot.  I thank God that this season I’ve started well,” Juma is quoted as saying by the club's portal,

“Scoring my first goal in only the second match of the season is a very important milestone. It’s a big motivation and I know I can do much better. " He added.

The academy graduate partnered Johnstone Omurwa at the back and he's enjoying it so far. He also singles out James Situma as one of the experienced players in the team that is playing a huge role in guiding him.

“We have a good understanding with Omurwa and (James) Situma also plays a big role in guiding us. We have done well so far and we want to keep as many clean sheets as possible," he said.

“It’s important that we do a good job at the back because we have a good attack. I want to help the team win the title this season." He added.

Mathare takes on Ulinzi Stars on Saturday 22nd December at the MISC Kasarani from 3 PM EAT.
