Koth Biro: Kingstone and Githurai through to the semifinals

Githurai United and Kingstone FC are through to the semifinals of the Annual Koth Biro Tournament after edging out Cheza Ukipenda and Shauri Moyo Sportive respectively in quarterfinal matches played on Thursday 27th December at the Umeme Grounds in Ziwani, Nairobi.

Githurai United 1-1 Cheza Ukipenda (5-3 post-match penalties)

Cheza Ukipenda thought they had made it to the semifinal as they led by a solitary goal scored by Alex Ibasi in the 59th minute but Githurai got a reprieve in stoppage time through former Gor Mahia midfielder Amos Nondi, pushing the match into post-match penalties.

Lady luck smiled with Githurai as they won the match 5-3 on postmatch penalties.

Kingstone 2-1 Shauri Moyo Sportive

The darling of the crowd Kingstone deservedly beat Shauri Moyo Sportive 2-1 in the next semifinal match played at the same venue.

John Walubaka opened the scoring in the 7th minute and Eugene Oduor doubled the lead in the 65th minute. Freddy Eninga pulled one back for Shauri Moyo in the 85th minute and they could have levelled matters in the 90th minute but Ivan Anguyo blasted his spot-kick wide.
