28 Dec 2018, 20:50

CAF Champions League draw: Orlando Pirates to face FC Platinum, Horoya and defending champions Esperance in Group B.

This will be Pirates’ first group stage appearance since appearing in the Champions League final in 2013 when they lost to Al Ahly of Egypt.

Pirates club’s last success in the competition came in 1995, when they beat Ivory Coast’s Asec Mimosas in the final. While Pure Platinum will be dreaming of progressing to its first ever knockout level of the event.

The South Africans will also be wary of Horoya's danger after the West Africans were responsible for Mamelodi Sundowns' shock exit in the most previous competition.

Group B

  • FC Platinum (Zimbabwe

  • AC Horoya (Guinea)

  • Esperance (Tunisia)

  • Orlando Pirates (South Africa)

Matchday one games will be played on 11–13 January 2019.
