Following reports suggesting that Arsenal are in the race to land him, Unai Emery has praised Ever Banega but has refused to rule out a move for the Sevilla midfielder.
After working together at Valencia for four years, then later reuniting at Sevilla where they won back to back UEFA Europa League titles, Emery and 30-year-old Banega look set for a third reunion according to reports. Reports have further claimed that the Arsenal board have blocked a deal as they are not keen on spending money to sign someone of his age.
Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the West Ham United clash, Emery was asked about the transfer links with Banega, "I know this player and he’s a very good player. I cannot tell you more. I can say to you that the club is working, the club is telling me the different situations in each moment. At the moment, we haven’t had any news today about that."
