Kenyan International Abud Omar has joined Romanian side Sepsi OSK on a one and half year deal, Futaa can reveal.
Abud, 26, parted ways with Belgian side Cercle Brugge recently after just six months and had options to sign in Turkey and Italy but has opted for a deal with the Romanian side.
Sepsi OSK was founded in 2011 to continue the football tradition in Sfântu Gheorghe after the dissolution of Oltul Sfântu Gheorghe. The team founders were fans of Oltul, and the name OSK (standing for Oltul Sport Klub) is a tribute to the defunct team.
After only one season from their foundation, Sepsi won the Liga V-Covasna County and were promoted to Liga IV. In their first season of Liga IV, they finished on the 2nd place, 8 points behind a local rival, Viitorul Sfântu Gheorghe.
At the end of 2013–14 season Sepsi won Liga IV and qualified for the Liga III promotion play-off, where they faced Selena Jariștea. Sepsi managed to win 7-6 after a penalty shoot-out and were promoted to Liga III. In the first Liga III season, Sepsi finished 3rd. In the 2015–16 Liga III season the team won Seria I and was promoted to Liga II. They were promoted to Liga 1 after just a season.
The club plays its home matches at the Stadionul Municipal in Sfântu Gheorghe, with a capacity of 5,200 seats. After the promotion to Liga I, Sepsi was forced to move on the Stadionul Silviu Ploeșteanu from Brașov because their stadium did not meet the licensing conditions. The club also played two home matches on the Ilie Oană Stadium based in Ploiești, before returning to Sfântu Gheorghe in March 2018.
The team is currently in a training camp in Turkey where they have scheduled a series of friendly matches. They face Turkish side Sivasspor this afternoon.
The team is currently fourth in Liga 1 with 33 points having played 21 matches. Abud Omar has already linked up with the club in Turkey and is expected to be unveiled soon.
