Hassan Abdallah scored the only goal which helped Bandari beat Posta Rangers 1-0 at Mbaraki Sports Club on Thursday 17th in a Kenyan Premier League match.
The on-form forward netted his third goal in three matches for the Mombasa based side in a match where Bernard Mwalala dominated. The goal which came in the second half was enough to send Bandari at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table temporarily. Goalkeeper Faruk Shikhalho made his second clean sheet of the season with a superb performance.
First chance went to Bandari in the seventh minute of play. David Kingatua produced a curling shot, from miles away which hit the crossbar and went out for a goal-kick. Minutes later, Bandari was awarded a corner kick, William Wadri stepped up to take it. He delivered a beautiful corner that met Abdallah Hamisi but his header was blocked. Kingatua went for the rebound but Odete was in the right position to clear the ball to safety.
The home side continued with the dominance, there was lovely play between Abdalla and Agade before the ball was passed to William Wadri who went past Odete and keeper, he tried to place the ball to the back of the net but Nyati rescued Rangers.
Another attack saw Agade play a cutback to Hassan who was left with the keeper but failed to beat him. Rangers produced a counter-attack with a long ball being played to Francis Nambute. Nambute took a long shot, which kissed the post and back to play but there was no one to capitalize on the rebound. Felly Mulumba cleared the ball to safety.
In the second half, Bandari continued to terrorize Rangers’ defense. Kingatua was untouchable, dribbling past several players but his shot was stopped by Opiyo.
After a series of knocks on the door, Bandari finally broke the deadlock. Abdallah Hassan took a long shot, a powerful one from a distance beating Opiyo. That was Abdallah’s third goal in three matches.
Bandari was awarded a freekick outside the dangerous area and Ochomo sent a beautiful shot which went straight to Opiyo’s hands.
