Manchester United defender Regan Poole has joined Newport County on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year old has been a regular for the club’s U-23s led by Ricky Sbragia. He has also captained the junior side.

The center-back is still Newport’s youngest-ever player after making his debut aged 16, in 2014, before making the move to Old Trafford. He has one senior appearance with United to his name, coming on as a substitute in the Europa League win over Midtjylland during the 2015/16 campaign.

This is the second loan move for the young centre-back after an initial move to Northampton town, a League Two side.

Newport, who are managed by Mike Flynn, caused a major upset in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup when knocking out Premier League side Leicester City. County faces a trip to Middlesbrough in the fourth round on 26 January and are currently mid-table in their division.
