William Wadri scored the only goal as Bandari beat Singida United 1-0 on Tuesday 22nd in a Sportpesa Cup match held at Tanzania National Stadium.

Wadri's second-half penalty was enough for the Mombasa based side to advance to the semi-finals, becoming the first Kenyan Premier League side to progress for this year's tournament.

Nkata dribbled on the left wing of the pitch and spotted Hassan Abdallah with his cross, Abdallah touched the ball in the path of Ochomo but Mohamed cleared the ball. It fell on Ochomo’s feet, who tried to take a touch before he turned, unleashing a shot which went wide. Another chance went to the visitors as Darius Msagha took a powerful shot at goal but it went wide. Dominance in the middle of the park saw Bandari lose the ball and Singida played a counterattack through Awesu, whose hard shot was saved by Faruk.

Wycliffe Ochomo went past two Singida players but he was brought down by Rajab Zahiri. The center referee had no option but to give Zahiri a yellow.

Nkata delivered a beautiful cross which was headed by Hassan to the path of Ochomo, he tried to head the ball past Singida’s keeper but he was denied by the left hand. Going for the rebound, Hassan collided with Saudi Lubawa and the Mombasa side was penalized.

Bernard Mwalala’s men had another attack on the right wing, A long pass from Mulumba met the Meja on the run. He went past Fred Zakaria before delivering a cross which hit Lubawa as he tried to stop the shot and who had to be attended to by medics.

Just before the halftime, the visitors were awarded a corner, second of the game compared to Singida’s zero. Nkata stepped up and delivered a corner which was headed away, falling into Hassan’s path though his shot went over the bar.

Off the post

The hosts had a chance of taking the lead in the second half through Boniphace Maganga. Bandari lost the ball in their own half and the forward took a shot from outside the box. It flew above Bandari’s beating Faruk who seemed have given up, before the ball kissed the crossbar and back to play.

Glorious chance

Singida was given a corner in the 59th minute, that wasn’t a good delivery as Bandari cleared the ball and played a counter attack. Ochomo held the ball in the middle, dribbling past a number of players before setting Abdalla Hassan who was left one on one with the keeper. He had Lubawa to beat but Abdalla’s simple shot kissed the side net.

Bandari was awarded a penalty in the 68th minute after Sangida’s player handled the ball inside the area. William Wadri stepped up to take, sending Lubawa the wrong side.
