Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards are on the pursuit of Mbao FC custodian Metacha Mnata who impressed in the just concluded SportPesa Cup, winning the Golden Glove as he helped his side to a fourth-place finish.
Mnata was presented with the man of the match award in the third-place playoffs despite his side losing out to Simba on post-match penalties after a 0-0 draw in regular time. Mnata kept Simba at bay as they threw everything at him, he was again on hand to pick up a clean sheet in the first leg meeting between the two sides in the 2018-2019 Tanzanian Premier League season.
Having kept a clean sheet against eventual winners Kariobangi Sharks and playing a key role in eliminating Gor Mahia by saving Harun Shakava’s penalty, Mnata insisted that he is ready for the Kenyan League, “I’d love to play in the Kenyan Premier League because I think I’m ready for the competition in the league. AFC Leopards have approached me but it was just the initial talks and we exchanged contacts.”
The Tanzanian goalkeeper revealed that he is open to a move with his contract running out at the end of the season, “I’m open for a move to a club that will interest me at the end of the season, I haven’t got any concrete offers yet because right now it’s too early for transfer talks.”
