Inter’s Asamoah on why he returned to Ghana’s national team

Inter Milan’s star left-back Kwadwo Asamoah has revealed why he pushed paused on his international career with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The strudy but also highly technical left-footer took a one-year hiatus from the Black Stars team, before making a return last September against Kenya in Nairobi.

“I decided to start playing with the national team again when I felt like I was in peak physical condition – that’s when I decided to return,” Asamoah told Football Italia.

“I need to feel like I’m at my best so I can give my all when I play for the national team and indeed at club level. Every minute I play for the national team gives me immense pride – it’s an honour,” concluded the player known as ‘Kojo.’

Inter’s next outing is against Lazio in a Copa Italia quarter-finals clash on Thursday.
