Official: Edison Cavani to miss Champions League clash against Man Utd
Paris Saint-Germain will be without one of their key men in Edison Cavani when they travel to Old Trafford for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash against Manchester United on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old Uruguayan striker limped off with a thigh problem during PSG’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Bordeaux on Saturday with coach Thomas Tuchel admitting on Sunday that it would be “very difficult” for him to be fit to face United.
“The examinations carried out revealed a lesion of a tendon on the right hip. The treatment and duration of unavailability will depend on the recovery in the coming days.” A statement from the club read.
Cavani’s injury comes as a big blow to the French champions who are already without Brazilian attacker Neymar while Marco Verratti remains a doubt.
